RESOURCES FOR APPLICANTS Licensure Applying Below is general information about FL clinical mental health counseling licenses and the Florida American Board of Certified Professional Counselors (ABOCPC) application processes. You must have an active license in order to practice counseling in the state of Florida. Apply Now Licensure Overview Three tiered licensure format: Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate (LCMHCA). Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC). Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Supervisor (LCMHCS). All applications have a fee of $238 (includes $38 Criminal Background Check). Application fees are non-refundable. Florida does not have reciprocity with other states. Actively licensed clinical mental health counselors in other states can apply for the LCMHC license by endorsement. NCBLCMHC does not regulate members of other regulated professions who do counseling in the normal course of the practice of their profession. The Board is authorized to take action against licensees that violate the Florida Licensed Professional Counselors Act and/or ACA Code of Ethics. The following list represents actions taken by the Board from 2005 to current. For information regarding adverse actions taken prior to the above date, please contact the Board office directly. Please Note: This list includes individuals who have been disciplined and may have complied with Board mandates.
